I am Marcelle Brooks, a first year student at Agnes Scott College. That is describing me in the most simple terms. I grew up in Rahway, a small suburb. Even though I lived in a place with white picket fences and green lawns, I went to school at Phillips Academy.  A charter school in Newark, an inner city in the heart of New Jersey. Living at the bridge of two worlds: one being the idyllic picture of the American Dream while the other is its harsh reality. Not everyone was afforded the same opportunities, and my unique early childhood education taught me that at a young age. This disparity that I witnessed gave me that passion to devotee myself to an education path that hopefully will culminate with a law degree. One of the favorite classes I have taken so far, is my high school Holocaust and Genocide, it combined  some of my favorite subjects: history, writing, and sociology. The drive I have to create a better world has led me to some unforgettable opportunities, from an internship under the CFO under the Newark New Jersey Branch of the YMCA, to representing my  high school in the Lemkin Summit for Human Rights.  In my spare time I enjoy dancing, I have been trained in classical ballet since I was four years old, alongside watching old Hollywood movies, and knitting.
